The Bluegrass Belly Band

Belly bands are a sanity saver for the family who is living with a "marker" or a new addition to the household that isn't fully housetrained yet. They drastically reduce training and cleaning time. Pottying in the house is one of the worst companion animal behaviors. However, from a dog’s viewpoint, it is perfectly natural and acceptable. Belly bands are also excellent for the older or incontinent dog. They can save the owners sanity and allow the dog to continue to live with the family.

A belly band is a great training aid for male dogs. Belly bands work because most dogs do not like to be wet. If the dog is wearing the belly band and pees, the belly band functions like a diaper. Belly bands work by inserting a self adhesive bladder control pad or a feminine pad on the inside face of the belly band. Then velcro fasteners hold the band in place around the dogs belly, covering the "boyhood". Belly bands are washable and reused as needed. Just be sure to attach the Velcro together before washing. It is a good idea to have several belly bands and launder them as necessary.
